I can successfully teach my kids how to read, write and speak in English!

Phonemic awareness involves the understanding of the relationship between sounds and words. It explains how words are made of sounds that can be used, like reusable building blocks, to construct words (h + at = hat, f + at = fat, etc). Phonics goes one step further by connecting those sounds to written symbols. It involves learning how letters or letter groups represent unique sounds, and how those sounds are blended to form a word.
There has been a resurgence in interest in synthetic phonics in recent years, particularly in the United Kingdom. The subject has been promoted by a cross-party group of Parliamentarians, particularly Nick Gibb MP. A recent report by the House of Commons Education and Skills Committee called for a review of the phonics content in the National Curriculum. The Department for Education and Skills since announced a review into early years reading, headed by Sir Jim Rose, formerly Her Majesty's Inspector and Director of Inspection for Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, UK.)
corresponding sounds. Compared to the Syllable Spelling Technique, in phonic reading children just need to remember 26 letters (a – z) and its sound [9]. There are two different categories of phonemes, vowels (a, e, i, o, u) with different pronunciations of “e” known as “e pepet”(/e) and “e taling” (/Ɲ), and also consonants (p, t, k, b, d, g, c, j, s, h, 1, r, m, n,  , ƾ , w, y/) [11]. They are not forced to remember all the different syllables that definitely will put some burden on the children, especially dyslexics. For example, in the Malay language ‘a’ is pronounced as “aaa” and ‘b’ is pronounced as “beh”. Combinations of these letters is called a syllable and pronounced as “beh - aaa - ba”. Previous researches show that the Phonic Reading Technique that emphasizes on letter-sound, is proven to improve reading skill [10] [12]. B. Multisensory Approach There are two ways to teach dyslexics, either by using the traditional teaching approach or Multisensory Teaching Approach. The traditional method is not effective for dyslexic children [13] as they need to stay focused on the information that is being given to them [7]. Unable to stay focused for long durations [2] and having short term memory problems [7][13] are major contributors to the ineffectiveness of traditional methods. A better approach to teach dyslexics is by applying the Multisensory Method in the teaching and learning process by teachers [7] as it consists of strings of multisensory strategies (linking of eyes, ears, voice, and hand movements) [6]. The Multisensory Method is proven to be an effective method to teach dyslexic children as they seem to interact with teaching tools and apply extra creativity towards their learning contents [6]. The strength of the Multisensory Approach lies in its ability to attract dyslexics’ attention, as they usually have problems staying focused during the learning process [7]. C. Dyslexia People who have different categories of disabilities can be classified into a few specific groups such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dyspraxics [1][2][4]. These types of syndromes have similar problems such as difficulty in speaking, writing, language problems, arithmetic confusion [6][14][15], emotional, and behavioral disorder [1][5][4]. Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty and a disability [7][16] that is faced by a person. They show symptoms of difficulties such as in reading, writing, listening, and speaking [1][15][17], which can cause inferiority complex among dyslexics, especially children. Generally, dyslexics’ characteristics are different from one child to another and characterized by unusual balance of skills [2]. However, they are always being referred to the cluster of symptoms like having difficulties with specific learning skills, mostly reading [13]. According to related literature, this syndrome is recognized as specific learning disabilities associated to the neurological system that cover a wide range of reading difficulties, [6] but does not imply low intelligence or poor educational potential. It is shown that dyslexia is related to learning disabilities only [2]. Therefore, based on the above definitions, dyslexia can be concluded as specific learning disabilities such as reading, writing, speaking, and listening that might occur in early age. Dyslexics need support and more attention from people around them to encourage them so that they can live like other people. D. Interactive Multimedia Multimedia as an interactive application can help dyslexics to reduce their weaknesses by focusing on their limitations and also on their potentials [18]. It is more concise and clear; and helps them out from their problems. Multimedia consists of interactive elements that are usually used to attract viewers. There are several combinations of multimedia such as text, audio, video, graphic, and interactive content. It can play the role of a secondary learning tool to enhance understanding among children and interest in their learning process. Multimedia has the potential to reduce or remove most of the problems that are faced by dyslexics because it uses interactive multimedia elements such as graphics and auditory devices for development [7]. Besides, multimedia can be a teaching computer [8] because it creates a fun learning environment for dyslexics. The elements used in multimedia application such as text, color, images, audios, video, animation, and graphics can attract children to stay focused and have fun during the learning session. In addition, it is also used on the concept of teaching and understanding for dyslexics [4][19]. This may contribute to improvement in their learning process by providing extrinsic motivation for task completion and also help to increase motivation [4]. III. IMPLEMENTATION OF LEARNING STRATEGIES IN “BIJAK MEMBACA” The main focus in this section is to discuss the implementation of the reading technique and learning approach using the interactive multimedia application, “Bijak Membaca”. The design of “Bijak Membaca” is shown in Figure 1, which refers to the content of the application. Basically, “Bijak Membaca” consists of two main modules; i) “Tutorial” and ii) “Aktiviti”. In the first module, there are four sub-modules, which comprise “Huruf”, “Suku Kata”, “Perkataan”, and “Ayat”. Interactive activity is the main focus in the second module that consists of “Latihan Suai”, “Latihan Sebut”, and “Latihan Baca”. 2012 IEEE Colloquium on Humanities, Science & Engineering Research (CHUSER 2012), December 3-4, 2012, Kota Kinabalu,Sabah, Malaysia555

In point of fact, letter-sound information amalgamates the word’s units into memory better than any other process. When we teach high-frequency words, we need to fully analyze the letter-sound relationships within them, whether the word is comprised of expected letter-sound relationships, as in can (/k/, /a/, and /n/, just as we would expect); some expected and some unexpected letter-sound relationships, as in said (/s/ and /d/ are as expected, /ai/ would normally represent the long a, not the short e, sound); or entirely unexpected letter-sound relationships, such as of (/uv/). Nearly two-thirds of high-frequency words are actually very regular (e.g., at, in, it), but even with those that are not, we need to fully analyze the letter-sound relationships as well as read them accurately many times. We suggest studying each letter’s association with each sound, relating the word to other words with the same letter-sound patterns when possible (e.g., no, go, so), and teaching high-frequency words alongside meaningful words (e.g., like with bike).
Kim Burnim: Well, a balanced literacy approach also emphasizes sight words—those are words that children should learn to recognize without sounding them out, such as the words the and said. They are also sometimes called high-frequency words, because they are words that are often seen even in simple stories for children. There are 40 of these words that are usually taught in pre-k, and another 56 that are often taught in kindergarten.
Kalau ditanya apa hobi saya? hampir nggak pernah saya bilang, bukan karena nggak punya, tapi binggung, kalau menjawab seperti jawaban rata-rata orang. Hobi saya ya apa yang saya kerjakan setiap hari sepanjang minggu sepanjang tahun. Ya hidup saya ini ups and downsnya, klise? Not really, if you think about it. Hal yang bakal bikin saya berhenti menjalankan hobi: Kalau Allah kasih sakit keras Atau diminta oleh keluarga untuk GMS pensiun + pensiun sharing (tapi saya masih punya hobi lainnya yang juga saya jalanin setiap harinya). Kalau ngomongin kenapa hampir 1 dekade sharing, ngejalanin usaha, kerepotan, sambil berhomesteading, keseharianku it’s a little bit of everything. Setiap harinya dari jam 3 pagi hingga jam 7 malam penuh dengan segala printilan antara worshiping Allah, belajar, keluarga dan bisnis, homesteading. Tapi dibalik ini semua, saya masih bisa sharing isi hati, isi kepala tentang segala hal di kehidupan ini ke banyak wanita and feel their greatness through their life crossing path with me. Kelihatan melelahkan, iya, kata siapa nggak capek. Tapi ini hobi saya. Jadi ngelakuinnya ya bahagia aja, suka aja isinya 💞 Seberapa banyak orang yang bisa hidup sehari-harinya dengan bahagia karena menjalankan hobinya? I am!. Saya salah satunya Gimana dengan kalian? Are you living your hobby? Kalau nggak kenapa? What stops you? Can u tell me?
Apa artinya terhubung dengan Allah menurutmu? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ini topik yang sering dibicarakan, tapi pernah nggak kita bertanya, juga, seperti apa sih? Let’s back up and talk about terminology. A sight word actually refers to any word that can be read by sight. Differentiation is a sight word for us—we recognize it essentially instantly when we see it. What many teachers call sight words are actually high-frequency words. Because a small number of high-frequency words have less regular patterns (e.g., was, the), some people call all high-frequency words sight words and think that they must be learned visually and holistically by sight.

Once students grasp the alphabet, and know the sound each letter represents they continue on to blend these letter-sound pairings together to read a word. They can then distinguish between similar sounds (e.g. “three,” “free,” and “tree), and phonics success is just around the corner. An effective homeschool phonics curriculum will involve frequent reinforcement and review of these skills.
Dalam bahasa Indonesia, huruf X dipakai dalam istilah yang diserap dari bahasa asing. Bagi kata-kata yang mengandung huruf "x" di awal kata seperti xilofon, xenon, xenia, huruf x dieja menjadi "s" sehingga dibaca silofon, senon, senia. Sedangkan kata yang mengandung huruf "x" di tengah atau akhir kata seperti taxi, extra, sinar-x maka dieja menjadi "ks" sehingga dibaca taksi, ekstra dll.
Some educators feel there are words that do not follow these phonics rules, such as were, who, and you.[12] They are often called "sight words" because they are memorized by sight with the whole language approach. These words should not be placed on a Word Wall to avoid confusion for a student learning beginning sounds. However, teachers of Synthetic phonics believe that most words are decodable and do not need to be memorized. For example, they point out that the word "were" is decodable because it contains two sounds, /w/-/er/. It is only necessary for the student to learn the various ways of spelling the sounds.[13]
BUKU adalah Jendela ilmu, karena memang dengan buku kita bisa tahu banyak sesuatu. tak heran jika banyak manusia begitu menganggap buku sebagai sesuatu yang melambangkan pengetahuan. Tak heran pula jika banyak orang yang mencoba untuk membangun perpustakaan sebagai tempat dari jendela ilmu tersebut. Berikut adalah daftar 10 perpustakaan terbesar di dunia : 1. Library of Congress Library of Congress ini berada di Washington DC, Amerika Serikat. Library of Congress didirikan pada 1800.
In a 2011 research review, the Center for Early Literacy Learning describes studies involving 15 different kinds of literacy skills and the general finding that nursery rhyme experiences and knowledge can be a predictor of reading success. The report concludes that “The best advice is to identify nursery rhymes and rhyming games that a young child especially enjoys and actively engage the child in the activities as part of routine play.”

Jika anak memulai sekolah di Perth dalam usia yang ‘nanggung, yaitu usia-usia 5-6 tahun, akan muncul sedikit tantangan bagi ortu dalam upaya belajar mereka. Anak-anak dalam usia seperti ini pastilah sudah pernah mengenal huruf ABC dan mengejanya dalam bahasa Indonesia, tetapi belum benar-benar bisa membaca. Dengan cara pengucapan yang sangat berbeda, wah…anak-anak pasti mengalami kebingungan. Setahu dia, What You See is What You Say! heheheheh…in English, of course you cannot just say what you see! Jika mempunyai anak-anak yang Verbal Geeks, wow…alhamdulillah deh, nggak perlu dibantu juga langsung ‘nangkep. Tetapi, saya yakin rata-rata anak akan mengalami learning curve shock!
"Overall we conclude that the synthetic phonics approach, as part of the reading curriculum, is more effective than the analytic phonics approach, even when it is supplemented with phonemic awareness training. It also led boys to reading words significantly better than girls, and there was a trend towards better spelling and reading comprehension. There is evidence that synthetic phonics is best taught at the beginning of Primary 1, as even by the end of the second year at school the children in the early synthetic phonics programme had better spelling ability, and the girls had significantly better reading ability."
However, we suggest that the answer also varies by child and should be informed by simple diagnostic assessments. Some children are able to develop letter-sound knowledge more quickly and efficiently than others. This is one reason why differentiated phonics instruction is so well advised. Some instruction is provided to the whole class, but then it is reinforced and gaps are filled in as needed in a small-group context. Research has shown that reading achievement is supported when instruction is differentiated.3 A number of researchers have developed systems by which assessments determine which letter-sound relationships each child has learned and not yet learned, and a systematic series of lessons are provided accordingly.4 An important direction for our field is to work toward determining the most time-efficient approaches to ensuring each child in a class meets grade-level expectations in word reading each year.
Kim Burnim: Of course. The letter c, for example, sometimes stands for the same sound as the letter k, as in the word “cat,” and sometimes stands for the same sound as the letter s, as in the word “city.” The most common sound for the letter c is the “k” sound, so that’s what we teach children first. Another example is the letter a—sometimes it represents the short a sound, as in the word “cap,” and sometimes it represents the long a sound, as in the word cape. We usually teach the short a sound first, because that’s more common, and then teach the long a sound later on.
Reading experts generally agree that phonics is one of many important elements of learning to read, along with familiarity with books, oral vocabulary (which is the collection of words that a child understands and can use in conversation), understanding of the parts of stories, and other factors. An approach that addresses all of these skills is often referred to as balanced literacy.
The complexities of letter names in English might lead you to think we should not teach letter names at all, but research suggests that teaching letter names is still worthwhile7—it just needs to be accompanied by lots of attention to the sound or sounds commonly associated with each letter and by a thorough understanding of the challenges posed by English letter names. A teacher with such knowledge would understand, for example, why a young child might spell the word daisy as WAZ. Why? Sometimes children write “W” for the /d/ sound because the letter name for Ww—“double-u”—begins with the /d/ sound. The next sound we hear in daisy is the letter name for Aa (the long a sound), and the third and fourth sounds in daisy are the name of the letter Zz (“zee”).

In systematic or explicit phonics, students are taught the rules and the exceptions, they are not instructed to memorize words. Memorizing sight words and high frequency words has not been found to help fluency. Put Reading First adds that "although some readers may recognize words automatically in isolation or on a list, they may not read the same words fluently when the words appear in sentences in connected text. Instant or automatic word recognition is a necessary, but not sufficient, reading skill. Students who can read words in isolation quickly may not be able to automatically transfer this "speed and accuracy".[11]

Imagine going to work for a shipbuilding company. You go to work the first day and are schooled in all the different types of bolts, screws, and nails. You learn their names, the different sizes, and the different types, but you never learn that their purpose is to join pieces of metal and that those pieces of metal are used to build ships! Although this situation is clearly ridiculous, it is actually analogous to what we see in some prekindergarten and kindergarten classrooms. Children are being taught to name letters or even identify the sounds that the letters represent, but they are unclear about why they are learning it. Letter-sound knowledge is being learned in a vacuum; the child has no context for how to use the information, no “big picture.”

Consonant digraphs are those spellings wherein two letters are used to represent a single consonant phoneme. The most common consonant digraphs are ch for /tʃ/, ng for /ŋ/, ph for /f/, sh for /ʃ/, th for /θ/ and /ð/. Letter combinations like wr for /r/ and kn for /n/ are technically also consonant digraphs, although they are so rare that they are sometimes considered patterns with "silent letters".

Koniks today are bred either in barns or open reserves and under human guidance. The Konik was bred for a larger shoulder height in past decades, to improve its value as a working horse. A more graceful appearance, especially of the head, was established, as well. Black and sorrel horses have been largely selected out, but still appear on occasion, as do white markings.[4] The simultaneous management of Koniks in both barns and reserves made it possible to compare the health and behaviour of the horses under different circumstances. For example, hoof diseases and hay allergies are more common in Koniks raised in barns than in reserves.[4]

Kami menemui 11 kajian yang menepati kehendak ulasan ini. Kajian ini melibatkan 736 respoden. Jumlah bukti untuk setiap kemahiran literasi adalah pebagai, iaitu kira‐kira 10 kajian untuk ketepatan membaca perkataan dan hanya satu kajian untuk kefasihan membaca nonword atau ‘bukan kata benar’ ( huruf yang disusun untuk membentuk perkataan yang tidak wujud).

Vowel digraphs are those spelling patterns wherein two letters are used to represent a vowel sound. The ai in sail is a vowel digraph. Because the first letter in a vowel digraph sometimes says its long vowel sound, as in sail, some phonics programmes once taught that "when two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking." This convention has been almost universally discarded, owing to the many non-examples. The au spelling of the /ɔː/ sound and the oo spelling of the /uː/ and /ʊ/ sounds do not follow this pattern.

McKenna, How to Plan Differentiated Reading Instruction (New York: Guilford Press, 2017).

In 1996 the California Department of Education took an increased interest in using phonics in schools.[26] And in 1997 the department called for grade one teaching in concepts about print, phonemic awareness, decoding and word recognition, and vocabulary and concept development. [27] Then, in 2014 the Department stated "Ensuring that children know how to decode regularly spelled one-syllable words by mid-first grade is crucial". It goes on to say that "Learners need to be phonemically aware (especially able to segment and blend phonemes)".[28] In grades two and three children receive explicit instruction in advanced phonic-analysis and reading multi-syllabic and more complex words.[29]

In November 2010, a government white paper contained plans to train all primary school teachers in phonics.[38] In 2018, The Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills (Ofsted), as part of its curriculum research has produced a YouTube video on Early Reading. It states "It is absolutely essential that every child master the phonic code as quickly as possible ... So, successful schools firstly teach phonics first, fast and furious." [39]

English has absorbed many words from other languages throughout its history, usually without changing the spelling of those words. As a result, the written form of English includes the spelling patterns of many languages (Old English, Old Norse, Norman French, Classical Latin and Greek, as well as numerous modern languages) superimposed upon one another.[7] These overlapping spelling patterns mean that in many cases the same sound can be spelled differently and the same spelling can represent different sounds. However, the spelling patterns usually follow certain conventions.[8] In addition, the Great Vowel Shift, a historical linguistic process in which the quality of many vowels in English changed while the spelling remained as it was, greatly diminished the transparency of English spelling in relation to pronunciation.
Figure 5. Drag and Drop Activity Lastly, the reading activity is designed to enforce the Phonic Reading Technique with the application of the Multisensory Approach. Children need to read the given passage and be guided with pre-recorded voice using the correct Phonic Reading Technique. Users have to link their voice, ears, and eyes to perform this activity. IV. RESULT & FINDING In order to evaluate the interface design and usability aspect of the application, Hueristic Evaluation is conducted. Heuristic Evaluation is an informal usability analysis and it is recommended to be done with between three and five evaluators to view the interface design and give their comments [21]. The evaluators should be experts in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and other similar project areas. For this study, this evaluation is performed by multimedia lecturers from the Computer Science Department and IT undergraduates who are pursuing a course in HCI (Multimedia). The reason of choosing those students as evaluators is to acquire their feedbacks and comments based on their theoretical and practical knowledge in HCI.Their task is to look into the adaptation of learning strategies and multimedia content in “Bijak Membaca”. They are given a set of questionnaires that consists of five sections. The criteria that need to be evaluated are i) content and structure (adaptation of phonic reading and Multisensory Approach), ii) interface design, sound, navigation (multimedia elements), and iii) general feedback about the application. The scale used is from 1 to 5. Table 1 shows the scale with the description that is included in the questionnaires. TABLE 1: RANK OF ANSWERS Rank Value Strongly Agree 5 Agree 4 Neutral 3 Disagree 2 Strongly Disagree 1 Figure 6 shows the result of the Heuristic Evaluation based on the content and feedback on structure. The result shows that most of the evaluators agree that this application is well designed with understandable content (mean=4.67) and reading technique (mean= 4.5), and suitable multisensory activities (mean=4.83). Figure 6. Result of Heuristic Evaluation on Content and Structure Based on the feedback shown in Figure 7, multimedia elements are designed and integrated very well as most of them agree with the interface design (mean=4.67), sound (mean=4.73), and navigation (mean=4.1) of the application. Figure 7. Result of Heuristic Evaluation on Multimedia Interactivity General feedback results (refer to Figure 8) obtained from this evaluation show that “Bijak Membaca” is accepted as an interesting (mean=4.33), user-friendly (mean=4.00), and attractive (mean=4.33) tool. It is also evaluated as valuable (mean=4.67) and supportive (mean=4.67). 2012 IEEE Colloquium on Humanities, Science & Engineering Research (CHUSER 2012), December 3-4, 2012, Kota Kinabalu,Sabah, Malaysia557
3 tahun yang lalu saya nggak ngerti apa itu artinya burnout Ketika pertama kali dengar, saya nggak bisa ngebayangin Eh gara-gara ngebayangin saya hampir ketularan (the power of making your self talking negatif or positif will influnce how you are in the outside), eh untung nggak keterusan conversation itu di kepalaku 🤓 Back to burnout.
